In Vol. 1 of The Medleys I explained already how my fascination with medleys began, accompanied by 12 carefully selected tracks.
Here's Vol. 2 with another 12 medleys for your musical enlightenment!
Over
the years I encountered some medleys which managed to combine unusual
songs to say the least, stringing a few Stones songs together is not that
special, but going from Lee Morgan’s ‘The Sidewinder’ to Sonny & Cher’s ‘The Beat Goes On’ is a whole different story.
And combining Thelonious Monk with Bob Marley is simply mindblowing, no other words for it!
Besides oddball song combinations you will also have a chance to listen to
Hank Williams Jr. playing with John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, & Dickey Betts, as well as the The Sun Ra Arkestra fronted by Phil Alvin!

ReplyDeleteQuestion: What was the last single/ep/lp/CD/cassette you bought?
Last week at a 2nd hand music shop I bought these 3 CDs:
ReplyDeleteKeith Frank & The Soileau Zydeco Band - Ready Or Not (unknown zydeco performer but surprisingly good, even has a neat Back To The 50's medley!)
Me First & The Gimme Gimmes - Turn Japanese [EP] (5 track of punked up covers, OKish...)
Toshinori Kondo & IMA - Brain War (wild jazz & more, love it! Kondo worked from time to time with Bill Laswell, so you can imagine...)
