LOOSE Vol 8! Now with more Hank Hill!

Anyone who’s familiar with the LOOSE series knows that the songs focus on folks who are intent on acting on their baser instincts.  There are songs about twerking, jerking, & merkins (alright, maybe not merkins).  They’re songs that celebrate being outside the sexual norm—songs by outliers, trailblazers, & the occasional pervert.

Female artists on this collection include Amyl & The Sniffers, Joan Jett, Sue Saad, Pearl Harbor, The Waitresses, & Jean Shepard.  Frequent commenter Richard suggested a track that has really grown on me: Barbara Markay’s Give Your Dick To Me, & Jon suggested Channel 3’s Wetspots.

The previous volume has songwriter Richard Berry’s version of his Get Out Of The Car (Uh Oh) which is made slightly less date-rapey by Sammy Davis Jr. adding a postscript.  Have Love, Will Travel makes another appearance courtesy of The Sonics, as does Who's Makin' Love? By The Amazing Rhythm Aces’ vocalist Russell Smith.

One of the most unsung heroes of rock & roll; Screamin' Jay Hawkins contributes Bite It!  As difficult as it is to believe, his massive influence on shock rockers has been all-but erased by time.  Alice Cooper’s allmusic listing doesn’t even list Screamin' Jay as an influence—and there simply wouldn’t have been an Alice, a Marilyn Manson or a Rob Zombie without Jay laying the foundation he put down brick by brick (at a time when many parents were threatened by their kids idolizing a black man—never mind a black man who rose out of a coffin to start his shows!)

The inclusion of a few acts will come as no surprise to anyone.  Tenacious D can always be counted on to serve up a track like Kielbasa.  As can The Dictators, The Beat Farmers,  Richard Cheese, River City Rapists, The Devil Dogs, & Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show (courtesy of Shel Silverstein’s songwriting skills).

The mortar between these cinderblocks is supplied by a collection of artists that any CD-length compilation would be lucky to have: Tim Curry, Gene Vincent, Frank Zappa, Bad Company, Elephant’s Memory, Stephen Stills, & Kurtis Blow.

So sample the salacious sounds on this collection--get on your good foot, get down with it, & (if you're so inclined) get down on it.

  1. The cover of LOOSE! Vol. 8 combines an existing album cover with a beloved cartoon.

Downloaders are requested to share an album cover that (slightly altered) would make a great cover for a future volume.

And please include a link to the suggested image? Extra credit to anyone who can identify the band whose album art has been used here.

    1. Quite a collection Stinky, well done! The cover art background reminds me of Rick Parker's work, but I'm not really sure...
Regarding your request, how about Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream classic cover? This one has already been covered/parodied (https://coreyshead.com/blog/2020/02/19/16-different-delights/) but I'm sure you could come up with a naughtier version!

  2. The Dictators was great, but his friend (girlfriend?) Wayne County also was great, with the song "You make me cream in my jeans" :-))

The back cover fits you three, and the loose, and the perverts, and yes I have that album and can give you a full detailed picture.
In the 1966 Netherlands there was a band De Clungels and one of their songs talks about something he'd never done before.

Jimmy Cross - I want my baby back, He crawls in the coffin to be with her.
I also like Steve Goodman - Men Who Love Women Who Love Men

  6. Hey Stink,

yesterday I listened to one of my old All Pearls No Swine comps, and I thought this should definitely have a place on a future Loose! collection:

Logistics question, though: "we can do it in the highway"? Erm, Sophie St. Laurent obviously likes to live dangerously...

  7. Thanks for the suggestion, ONE BUCK!

Sophie was obviously trying to go The Beatles one better! "I'll see your; WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD, and I'll raise you; we can do it on the highway." :)

I just visited your blog yesterday!
