Here too is a sequel to Stoned Soul Queens, with performances that didn't make the first set (either for reasons of space or because another cover version was chosen). This set includes more than one version of the same song. Some are more recent recordings (later than the 1960's or 1970's); and there are two songs included that the Stones didn't write. Thanks to the readers who shared suggestions on the previous post. Hope you enjoy this one!

Nice one Jonder, love those Stones cover compilations, keep them coming!
DeleteThe Ottilie Simpson photograph is cool but even better would have been a safety pin through that tongue ;-)
I tried to get one of the AI image generators to make that for me (Stones lips logo with safety pin through the tongue), but AI apparently doesn't comprehend yet what a safety pin is supposed to look like. The results were more like hairpins!
DeleteThere is one singer I keep forgetting. A few weeks ago the BBC Antiques Road Show had a woman, who when she was young made a 7'' with the Stones. I cannot find it. I could after I heard her on the show, and searched for it. I forget to take notes, and as a result I forgot. I believe it was around 1964 or 5 and she was of Jamaican origin, but full English, Black Beautiful & British. Brian Jones had his jaw on the floor in the picture. After this vague description, does anyone know that singer/song?
ReplyDeleteI finally found her! https://www.discogs.com/artist/2606379-Cleo-Sylvester

Thanks, J! I'm happy to know about the ones I didn't know about. If you see Nick Saloman, stick out your tongue at him.
DeleteRamones - Stupid Girl.
ReplyDeleteForgot this one.
Thanks! I recently finished reading "Miles Per Gallon", the memoir by Mike Magrann (singer of Channel 3). Mike wrote that it was Robbie Fields (aka Posh Boy) who made CH3 cover "Stupid Girl".
