The Very Best of Ronnie Spector

Here's a twofer from Stinky! The Very Best of Ronnie Spector ranges from her early days with The Ronettes through her solo career and her EP She Talks To Rainbows (a collaboration with Joey Ramone).

Ronnie Spector's 80's Recordings (today's other share) compiles ALL of the songs from her solo albums Siren (1980) and Unfinished Business (1987).  Cheetah Chrome, Billy Rath and drummer Thommy Price played on Siren, and Susannah Hoffs duets with Ronnie on the Unfinished Business track "Dangerous".

Stinky added Eddie Money's hit "Take Me Home Tonight" to both sets, as it features Ronnie's unforgettable cameo.  Both sets also include the immortal "Walking In The Rain" by The Ronettes.

Speaking of Cheetah Chrome, he's leading a new Dead Boys lineup on a US tour this fall.  Johnny Blitz was on board for last year's Dead Boys live dates, but this time around it's Jake Hout (vocals), Lez Warner (drums), Monk Burris (guitar), and Smokey Ortiz (who Google identifies as either the former Dodgers hitter or a weed magician). Either way, now seems like a good time to revisit Stinky's tribute to Stiv Bators --  and to enjoy the magnificent voice of the late great Ronnie Spector.

  3. And on Bye Bye Baby, Ronnie duets with Joey Ramone. Hearing them sing together hammers home that she was Joey's #1 influence as a singer. Like Elvis basing his style on Dean Martin, once you hear it, you can never un-hear it. - Stinky

    1. It's cool too that Ronnie covers "Don't Worry Baby", seeing as Brian Wilson wrote it for her and all.

    2. Punch in "Brian Wilson hears Ronnie Spector's Don't Worry Baby" on YT, then watch the wave of bliss sweep him away. Surfs up, indeed.
P.s. Thanks for all the great tunes!

  5. Thanks so much for this jonder & Stinky. You know I'm a sucker for a great female voice. Veronica is one of my all time favorites. I think I have all these in various places but nice to have them in one place with easy access. I'm walking in the rain.
